Maximizing our Environment: How Aspects of Your Classroom Can Affect Students’ Behavior
Tuesday, May 29th from 6:30-7:30pm
Location: The Learning Experience
8710 Park Central Drive
Richmond, VA 23227
Instructor: Nicole Lumpkin
Cost: $5.00 per person for Learning Experience staff, $8.00 per person for all others
Room arrangement can be varied by a room’s size, supplies, and the teacher’s creativity. We want to make an environment that is welcoming, fun, and interactive. We want our classroom to inspire new experiences without over stimulating children or creating spaces where negative behavior can occur. Classrooms need to find places for group activities, learning experiences, cozy corners and areas of music and movement. The possibilities are endless!
We will also be discussing labeling and how to make sure that the labels we use are effective and age-appropriate. Most labels are easy to make and bring color to classrooms. In addition to an excellent learning tool, labels also help children learn responsibility and make a teacher’s clean up time less stressful.
Did you know a color can change your students’ emotions? Colors can be sorted by cool or warm and research has shown that when exposed to particular colors, children’s moods change which could affect their behavior and concentration. Come and join us to find out what moods your classroom’s color could be causing in your students.
Please feel free to join us and see how little changes in an environment can improve classroom behavior and learning experiences. It can be a small change with BIG results!
