Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens Puts Children and Families First
Our family enjoys Lewis Ginter so much we have an annual membership, and we even had our family portrait made there in the summer. Our photographer, Melissa Hopkins did an amazing job with the photographs, but in such a beautiful setting, it would actually be difficult to take a bad picture. Lewis Ginter is so much more than a pretty backdrop for a photography session. We feel that they put Children First, and we’ll tell you why in three words; The Children’s Garden.
The Children’s Garden at Lewis Ginter has everything your child could possibly want for a day of fun outside. Activities include a sand play and water play area, an “international village” of child-sized houses from around the world, a bird and butterfly meadow and an educational center where children and families are offered interactive classes year round. I want to emphasize that this is a great place to visit any time of the year. My son and I spent hours playing in the sand, climbing trees, and exploring in the Children’s Garden earlier this week. The Children’s Garden is only one small part of the entire grounds though. My personal favorite is the Butterflies Live exhibit in the summer and fall.
I have truly only touched the surface. So do your family a favor; visit this amazing Richmond, VA treasure soon. You can thank me later.
